What's a shonen?
So you probably hear people talk about terms like "otaku", "shojo", and many others. This site even does! For newbies, here's some lingo to teach you more about when we use this terms:
Shonen: Anime and manga aimed at young boys roughly 10 and up. Some shows include Naruto, Bleach, Hunter x Hunter, Pokemon, and others.
Shojo: Anime and manga aimed at young girls roughly 10 and up. An example of this is K-ON!.
Seinen: Anime aimed at adult males 18-35.
Magical girl: Often shojo shows about girls who receive magical powers. An aversion of this is "magical boy." Some examples include Tokyo Mew Mew, Sailor Moon, Magical DoReMi, and others.
Josei: Anime aimed at adult women 18-35.
Kodomo: Anime aimed at the toddler audience. Some of these include Hamtaro and the manga version of Pokemon Special.
Otaku: Anime fan!
